Aldo Moro

  • Raffaele Iozzino

    Born in Casola (NA) on January 2, 1953. Policeman.

    He joined the police force in 1971. After attending the Training academy in Alessandria, he started working in the 1st Mobile unit in Rome and in the General Inspectorate of Public Security for the Viminale.

    He was deeply attached to his brothers and his family, whom he visited almost every week. When he was sent to Rome as a body guard for politicians he never said a word about his job.

    He was killed in the slaughter of via Fani in Rome, on March 16, 1978. He was posthumously awarded a gold medal for civic valor, on February 16, 1979.

  • Oreste Leonardi

    Born in Turin on June 10, 1926. Major Marshal adjutant of the Carabinieri.

    He enlisted in 1946 and was promoted Major Marshal in 1973. He worked in the Territorial Units in Umbria and Lazio; since 1963 he worked in the Reparto servizi sicurezza enti vari/Department for security duties to different bodies.

    He was killed in the slaughter of via Fani in Rome, on March 16, 1978. He was posthumously awarded a gold medal for civic valor, on February 16, 1979. On April 21, 2010 he was awarded the decoration as a “victim of terrorism”.

  • Domenico Ricci

    Born in Staffolo (AN) on September 18, 1934. Appointee of the Carabinieri.

    He joined the Carabinieri in 1955. After attending the Training academy in Alessandria, he started working in the 1st Mobile unit in Rome and in the General Inspectorate of Public Security for the Viminale. Being highly skilled in high speed driving, he was immediately engaged as a bodyguard of a high-rank officer of the Carabinieri. A trained and reserved person, he started working with Aldo Moro in 1958 as a bodyguard, and later Moro himself chose Ricci as his personal driver. He was promoted appointee on December 29, 1965, and in 1966 he started working in the Reparto servizi sicurezza enti vari/Department for security duties to different bodie.

    He was killed in the slaughter of via Fani in Rome, on March 16, 1978. He was posthumously awarded a gold medal for civic valor, on February 16, 1979. On April 21, 2010 he was awarded the decoration as a “victim of terrorism”.

  • Giulio Rivera

    Born in Guglionesi (CB) on august 1, 1954. Policeman.

    He joined the police force in 1974. After attending the Training academy in Alessandria, he started working in the Patrol unit in Milan and later in the Independent department for the Ministry of Interior.

    He was killed in the slaughter of via Fani in Rome, on March 16, 1978. He was posthumously awarded a gold medal for civic valor, on February 16, 1979. On April 21, 2010 he was awarded the decoration as a “victim of terrorism”.

  • Francesco Zizzi

    Born in Fasano (BR) on June 4, 1948. Vice-brigadier of the Police.

    He joined the police force in 1971. After attending the Training academy in Caserta, he started working first in the Academy, and then in the Police headquarters in Rome and in Parma. In the end, he was assigned to the Independent department for the Ministry of Interior.

    He was killed in the slaughter of via Fani in Rome, on March 16, 1978. He was posthumously awarded a gold medal for civic valor, on February 16, 1979.

    In the following years, he was also awarded other gold medals for his sacrifice.
